Cards [most games] are only games of luck for the loser. Skill brings the winner his riches.

From a psychologist, the first time you do things it's typically trial and error. Then Luck turns to skill with gained associative strength and insight. Okay the gist: Master Chess players are skillfull but Newbe Chess players are lucky. Could be the same with some card games.
