The Slacktivist article was interesting in some ways, but it failed to point out how the current bill would reduce health care costs. I don't think it will - or rather, I think that the cost of providing healthcare will go down, but the consumer won't see any savings.
Honestly this is a pretty thorny issue for me. As a Limey, the current healthcare system in the USA terrifies the hell out of me. I've gone and moved to a country where if you run out of money, you won't get taken care of. I'm in a place where if you slip on a patch of ice and break your ankle, or if a mugger shoots you, or if an icicle falls and spears your shoulder, you could be rendered homeless.
I'm in a place where you can die from not having enough money.
How terrible is this, how unfair? I live in a place where keeping you sick while getting you hooked on drugs is in someone's interests - the sicker you are, the more money you generate for a particular group of men.
These men... there's something wrong with them. You know, upstairs. They have this weird

Note my objections to paying tax money. I have no problem with paying taxes - I have no problem with giving money to people who need it, because both Karma and economics dictate that it'll come back to me some other way. Also I'm not greedy. But giving my money to people who don't need it, to people who run companies that actively hurt the human race for money - that sticks in my throat
