Summer Thus Far

Jul 12, 2004 11:04

Mother is bored. She's been dragging me off to every little soiree she can attend, as Father is usually out of town anyway and she needs someone with her, and is trying to keep herself occupied by embarking on a most noble quest to Find Blaise A Girlfriend ( Read more... )

I think my father presumes I will just end up married to some lovely girl one day. Although my aunt on my mothers side often asks how my love life is going, I'm beginning to hope that sometime soon they will abandon the image of Theodore+wife=lots of children.

Wednesday is certainly looking up. Conversations without the added bonus of other people reading them.

Yes, well, your father hasn't been left almost alone in the house for the duration of the summer. I wish Mother would take up a different kind of hobby.

Thank goodness for Pansy, then.

Not all girls need to be accompanied everywhere... and I can see why one would like to have some privacy...

Hmmm, I guess that's what it's supposed to feel like when you are popular... you get lots of fangirls that follow you around... (Well that's as far as I can see!)

But that's girl is crazy, wanting someone to wait in front of the lavatory... how can she think of it!

It isn't popularity, Padma, as much as it was a matter of convenience. I was the only one present expected to entertain her.

Crazy--that's the word I was thinking of! Yes, exactly. Apparently she wants to make sure someone stands watch over her, and it's the polite thing to do. I had a house elf sent accompany her instead.

Someone to watch over you is good, just not all the time! That would freak me out for sure!

Hear, hear. I just don't understand why, really. I'm glad she doesn't go to Hogwarts.

No wonder you can't find a girlfriend. You're very rude.

That's assuming I'm looking for a girlfriend to begin with. I'm rude because I didn't like her; rudeness, surprisingly enough, does not come naturally to me.

That is surprising.

So Blaise. Are you looking for a girlfriend, or do you have other tastes? Forgive me fore being so bold. But I just had to ask...

Oh, dear. I detest girls like that. Privacy is more than a word, but do they understand that? No.

And... accompanied everywhere? It's not only a Wizarding think, to be frank. Many of my Muggle friends are the same, and need other friends to accompany them everywhere. Apparently it's shameful to be seen alone, or something like that. I don't understand it. Wouldn't one want to be alone sometimes?

Whoops, how rude of me. I'm Lisa, seventh year Ravenclaw.

I'm pleased to know I'm not the only one to think that way. Mother refuses to listen to reason, really.

Hello, Lisa. I think I've seen you around before... Did you also take Ancient Runes last year?

I think it's the age group more than anything. That and she was probably afraid of you getting out of her sight or something like that.

Yes, I did.

... Ah, I remember you! The clever Slytherin. It was quite interesting, wasn't it?

I'm flattered. Yes, actually, it's so far one of the more fascinating subjects I've encountered. I'm most certainly taking it again this term.
