I really am beginning to think it's time to give up on RAID for the near future. I finally have a system that's talking to the add-on RAID card killernurd gave me. Is software raid an option?

Theoretically yes, but I'd rather set it up single and then duplicate it into a hardware RAID when I can get the controller (about $100, now that I've done the specific research).
