I recently purchased a new computer and had all my old files uploaded from the old one. I really don't write very much. Over the past nine years I've made sporadic attempts at an ambitious century-spanning novel about NYC, but if I put all the excerpts together they probably wouldn't even amount to twenty pages. Yes, this could be a fun story, I think you should do it.

I laughed at the Love Actually mention - I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks it's terrible!

That's funny about Love Actually. The film and the tattooed, gold-toothed dining car companion were the two specific details I'd taken from my sister's description of her trip. When I wrote the story, I hadn't actually even seen it yet (I only know this because of the save date of the document) and I assume was just guessing at how Troy and Sid would judge it. But I have seen most of it in the ensuing years and I agree, it is kind of awful. Too bad, because it's chockfull of some of my favorite British actors.
