During today's Mage game, KELLY exposed us all to an excerpt from a terrible book. A dramatic reading of said book reminded me of an article Shamus Young posted about a movie making program that allowed you to make any movie you wanted, as long as you make it with Lego characters playing with a Speak and Spell.

Ron Miller has won awards.

It's true. He was given a Hugo award for editing a Chelsey Bonestell artbook. I think this had more to do with Bonestell's art than it did Miller's editing. He was also the production illustrator for David Lynch's Dune movie. I found out all of this on his wikipedia article, which appears to have been written by him.

Unfortunately, there is no mention of otters, soft cheese, or wind blowing gently across a field from someone's crotch.

One truly terrifying thing that I learned while making this video is that this is the second book of the Bronwyn trilogy. There are two more of these things out there somewhere.

What?... I... Oh, God... I... What?

Also, I don't remember if she mentioned it inside, but Kat told me that she thinks her dad knows Ron Miller. There's a section that credits a John Trotta with some concept art for a movie about an anthropomorphic black cat loose in the big city or something. I don't know what Kat's dad's style is like since all I've seen of his work is the Balticon logo and his tiny dragons so I can't be too sure myself. I wonder if Kat has asked him about it.

From what I've read about this guy, I think I'd genuinely enjoy meeting him. I hope he comes to Balticon sometime.
