But I think you answered your own question about the Bible. I think it IS a story. A story that defines humanity in the simplest form. I don't think it's meant to show us how the earth was created or anything like that. The majority of it is about what is morally right according to Christianity. Manmade? Sure. Piece of crap? I wonder what existance would be like if it never existed in the first place.
