RFID. Make Social Media work for your business.

The first time I heard about RFID technology was in summer 2011. At www.digitalbuzzblog.com was an article with video about hotel in Ibiza that used RFID technology:
It’s not that I was impressed cause I didn’t think that many people will use it but it was great that finally offline was connected with online.

So what is RFID technology. According to Wikipedia: «Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the use of a wireless non-contact system that uses radio-frequency electromagnetic fields to transfer data from a tag attached to an object, for the purposes of automatic identification and tracking. Some tags require no battery and are powered by the electromagnetic fields used to read them.» ( Read here) All in all we can find it in our everyday life for instance when use pass to get in office or at factories to check production stage of the product.

As for me RFID is a great opportunity for advertising, promotion or business to make brand more attractive for customers. This is how it works:

In this event the difference between Ibiza hotel is not that huge but now creative companies decided to use it in a new way. I was absolutely amazed that I found out about next event that used RFID:

Just imagine there will be no lines at test drive or at any other event, you don’t need to download something on your phone, you use services provided at event and they will be linked with your online profiles. As for companies there are opportunities to create huge buzz through the Internet and reach target audience.

All these cases are mostly concentrated around promotions and advertising activities, so lets move to businesses:

It’s not a temporary event, it is service that is provided the whole season and brings the whole new experience of skiing and snowboarding.

The last point I wanted to cover in this article is other way to give away RFID marks. During Hyundai presentation of the cars at AutoRAI there was no need in RFID readers at booths. They have been using flash RFID readers connected to laptops that made process more mobile:

These are not the only cases where RFID techology was used and I am pretty sure that in nearest future companies will apply it in a wider range of situations.
