About a week and a half ago, my grandmother found out she has breast cancer. She went into surgery right away and had her breast removed. She recovered for a few days, and then was having heart problems, so she is back in the hospital. I call my parents several times a week, and nobody bothered to mention any of this to me until Friday. At the very ( Read more... )

Hehe, yeah suppose I like to be a bit dramatic. I'm guessing my chances are pretty good considering the genetics I have going for me.

Aww, that sucks.

Since my mom had breast cancer so young (like 34 I think) I'm already having mammograms at 29.

I love me some mammograms!

Or...um, not really.

Yeah, at least I have the age factor going in my favor. All my family members were at least 50 or 60 before developing cancer. I've not experienced mammograms yet, and not looking forward to that day. Can they do it on almost non existent boobs!? hehe

I'm sorry Mary :(

I'm away from my family as well and I would hope they would keep me in loop with news whether it is good or bad.

We can eat french fries together tomorrow night, I'm going to have to put ketchup on mine though.

That totally sucks, Mary. I'm sorry. I know how you feel, too--no one on my dad's side gives me family updates either, and it can be frustrating. But hey--don't doom yourself to breast cancer. Get mammograms, yes, but you never know...all bodies are different. And I'm a firm believer that how you care for yourself can totally affect your physical outcome. Like, well, everyone in my family has diabetes, and I'm a shoe-in eventually because of my weight. But I'm losing, and if I keep losing and keep it reasonable, I might stave it off or not get it at all. So you never know.

As for your grandma, I'll be crossing my fingers. Hang in there.

Thanks, I'm keeping my fingers crossed as well. I'll keep my fingers crossed on the diabetes front as well.

That explains last night then. I'm sorry to hear about your grandma :(

Mustard and mayo on fries, or cheese sauce.

Eeeeewww mustard and mayo! The only thing my fries might get dipped in is a chocolate milkshake. I will also allow them to be covered in real cheese.
