Ghost in My Head
There's a ghost walking across
the floorboards of my memory
Not knowing what to do
Not knowing who to scare
just pacing across the room, my brain
Tip toe, tip toe
He moves like a staircase
Around my brain, peering
Over the banister
Waiting for a victim
Wondering who he must pay
to get a thrill and fear
sucked out of another life
To leave them empty
To leave them dry
To leave the
The way he left me
Still hungry for a life
Not aching for a love
He's gliding across the floor
That was once my mind
I was an oyster but I have no pearl
Just a ghost in my head
Hungry and waiting
Tip toe, tip toe
To eat all but the shell
Of my companions, he wants
To leave them empty
To leave them dry
To leave them without their pearls
And put a spirit in place
To act and talk
Behave and walk
And drained of salvation
Just like the ghost
Who survives in my head
