So great to read your post. I think a lot of people are feeling similarly about FB and there might be an exodus back here. I agree--I really miss being able to read deep writing and be able to interact with it in a more substantial way...no way to do that in 140 characters. :)

Your life sounds messy and real and kinda glorious. I'm so glad for you and school and your partner and the dog! I hope it works out with your great-nephew. Kinda going through a similar thing with my niece now (though she doesn't live with me)...I know she has a lot of growing to do and I'm trying to remember all the stumbles I had to make at her age to get to a stronger place, but damn, it's hard sometimes to be patient and supportive.
