LJ and Blogs are killing the internet!!!!!

that's right, that's what i said!! deal! i've been trying to figure out what exactly i HATE so much about lj and blogging. i finally figured it out while talking to matt the other day. the internet is becomming less active and more passive due to lj and blogs! i use to be able to CHAT, actively with TONS of ppl. in the last 3 years i've noticed ( Read more... )

yes i thought it was ironic myself. i use to be able to have ppl to chat with late at night, now there's only 2 ppl to chat with late at night if i'm REALY lucky. so i lj. and i use to be able to wake up on sunday morning and tell every one about my exploits the following night. now there's percisely 2 ppl i'm chatting with and one hasn't said but "hi there ( ... )

i'm quite a bit less social than you are, bill, although i wouldn't call myself ANTI-social except when i'm in certain moods. We're about as different as two guys can be and still be members of the same community.
i personally only use AIM to talk to 2 people on regular basis: you, and sometimes Shay. that's pretty much it. I can log on to AIM and most of the time no one will be there. I can log on to LJ, post something, and know that someone will eventually read it.

LJ and blogs fill a very old internet niche.

Blogs == USEnet

The drama is the same. The flame wars are the same. The passive response mode is the same. This has happened before.
