(no subject)

While everyone is taking the time to explore themselves, I figure I'd go ahead and give it a shot. I think I pretty much have it figured out.

I am a communist. I am an atheist. I am a vegan. I am straight edge. Above all else, I am deliberate. I'm not one for spontaneity, and I refuse to make an uninformed opinion. That is the biggest reason that I have come to accept, endorse, and encourage communism, atheism, veganism, and the straight edge lifestyle.

Let me say first that straight edge takes a backseat to all of the other things. I don't think straight edge is worth being called a "social movement" of any sort, as it is solely a personal matter. I am straight edge because I think time spent unable to think and judge clearly is time wasted, and that is all. It does not make me better than you, and it does not make you better than anyone else. Straight edge is not a god damn religion, and if you treat it like one, it becomes just as fucking stupid as one.

Atheism is a huge part of me. Or, to many, perhaps it is a huge part of me missing. I can deal with that. I refuse to believe in a god that punishes for eternity his children that make only a lifetime of mistakes, while he treats his better-behaved children to an eternity of bliss, or whatever heaven is made out to be. I refuse to call a savior or a moral leader he who condemns innocent men for not believing as he says. I refuse to accept a doctrine that has throughout its tenure only been able to yield intolerance, hatred, subjugation, torture, and death. Most importantly, I refuse to believe in anything that cannot logically be said to exist. Believing in such is not a "higher way." Eamon, you put atheism right up there with money, drugs, and sex. I would like to let it be known that your morals are not special to Christianity, nor have they ever been. I would also like to say that you contradict yourself in saying that you respect others' beliefs if you will so quickly shoot them down. I suppose atheism isn't really a belief, though, in the religious sense...it is the recognition of belief as irrational and unsubstantiated, and it is the abondonment of faith for reason. And Eamon, I like you. You're a fucking good dude, and I want to talk to you more. I just felt the need to defend the position that I take.

Many of you know what veganism means to me, because it means the same to you. I won't support cruelty, and I won't support corporations that continue making their workers labor in abhorrent conditions. I'm not even going to get into the health aspect of veganism...it's not as important. I don't care if PETA's videos are only one example of factory farm conditions, and probably the worst one. Life is life, death is death. Exploitation is exploitation, be it a man, a woman, a child, an animal, or the earth, and it is never justifiable, even if it does "taste good." And I don't care how much you hate PETA. I think they suck, too. They're a business and operated as such. And I think the coolest thing they've done so far is support the ALF, so shutup.

This last one is probably my favorite and most important. Communism is the only way to a really free, really equal society. Notice I didn't say "I believe communism is..." or "I think communism is...". That's because it is. I don't "think" it, and I certainly don't "believe" it. I know it. Democracy--I don't mean a democratic state, I mean democracy--simply cannot exist without the complete eradication of political inequality. Simple as that. That's not even a Marx quote, that's in my political science textbook. Despite of (or even because of) our relative personal freedom to think and say as we wish, we should not sit back and let the American imperialist empire start colonizing, or installing leaders where they want them, or funding and arming forces that strangle democratic establishments to death just because they're collectivist ones and don't correspond to the American market system. (Not to mention, by the way, having little or no regard for its own working class citizens). Capitalism is the force to perpetuate these evils, and communism is the only way to stop them."Oh, well you have the freedom to say what you want" is not fair justification for letting this country get away with the harm it causes, so shut the hell up. I am a comrade, through and through, and if you don't like it, then you'll probably just be joining us later on.

So there it is. Over it yet?
