I didn't post for the entire month of November. I blame jury duty. When you live in NOLA, your service is 7 days over a month. Luckily, I was never at the court house past 1 or 2. And most days I was back at work for 12. I caught up on some reading, watched some daytime TV, texted Quintulus about the Price is Right alot, and met some ( Read more... )

Law question: here in TX they pronounce voire dire "vor-dy-er". I'm presuming since y'all are in southern LA, they pronounce it in the french?

vwa deer sort of. So yes closer to the French, I guess. I only got called up to one of the court rooms twice. Once for a drug charge & once for a vehicular homicide and they didn't want me on the jury either time. Darn.

And I'm good for 2 years in both criminal & civil court so Yea me!

Woo hoo! Here in Tx (or at least in Austin), you get called once and that's it for a period. I sat outside the courtroom for several hours, and then the judge came out explaining that there was a plea agreement and we wouldn't be needed. That was nice. (I was sitting there studying my law books, to make myself look like someone who lawyers wouldn't want on the panel.)
