David and I are planning to move back across the river to be closer to school (and most of our friends live in Cambervile, so that's another bonus). What with Abby and having no car, it is really difficult to do a proper apartment search in neighborhoods that are an hour or more away from us via public transportation. So, we need a little help to ( Read more... )

If you guys line up any viewings for Sundays, we can probably babysit with a few days notice. I'd offer Saturdays, too, but Bee's usually at the lab and you know how needy C is (oh, gosh are my arms and shoulders tired!).

And I know it's not ideal, but is there a chance that one of you could look and put enough trust in the other to find a good place? That's what we had to do when Ian was in Vermont --- again, not ideal, but it can work out well. One could always take pictures on the phone and send them in real time. :)

Thanks! We might take you up on that once we narrow possibilities down to a few places :)

I think I am probably more picky about where we live than David is so I would want to see a place before we signed anything, but I definitely trust him to say if a place is promising or won't work for us.

You might also consider a babysitter and Zipcar in a pinch - it's not totally ideal, but it might make it easier for you to get around places.

Yea, we'll have to consider that I'm sure, but it's not practical at this point since we're still casting our net pretty broadly. We generally get by fine without a car but for things like this it's so much easier to have one . . .

I had to move 3 times in the last 8 months (mostly unwillingly I might add) rweba April 29 2009, 13:00:14 UTC
so I feel sympathy pangs for you!

Good luck in finding a decent place, I am betting finding good affordable places isn't exactly easy in Boston.

I am really not so good at following up on calling places and making (and remembering!) appointments, but I am able to babysit on short notice. With the exception of Fridays and Sundays, I'm usually free.

Thanks! I may take you up on that. We really like Inman and would love to find a place there . . .
