Whew
After 31 hours of labor and 13 hours in transition, David and I have finally met Tovid, aka our wonderful little girl Abigail. We are very proud and happy parents. Pictures and details forthcoming. -
In transition
This is Tope dictating to David. As of 10pm I was at 7cm and 90% effaced, so I appear to be in transition. The surges are pretty intense but I am doing awesome, because I am awesome, and I'm hopeful that we will meet Tovid sometime very soon, and I'm totally a superhero, and David is great for transcribing so accurately. -
Now taking bets!
Tovid will be full term (37 weeks) in 9 or 10 days. Assuming Tovid stays put until s/he is full term (please Lord let that be a correct assumption) and that I don't go past 42 weeks (ditto, Lord), s/he could make an appearance anytime between Nov. 27 and Jan. 2. Whew ( Read more... ) -

What an Obama presidency would mean, for two African American women
I've seen a lot of comments on various political sites/posts, from people who presumably are not black (and in fact often identify themselves as white), accusing African American voters of being "racist" because we are overwhelmingly voting for Obama. Those of you who use cloth diapers - is there anything I should keep in mind when it comes to choosing a diaper bag? Like a feature that's particularly useful or spectacularly unhelpful to have in a diaper bag? -
