Well for my experience, walking is VERY helpful to lose weight also. IF you keep your back straight as your walking. Your abdomen area and your legs will lose the fat and turn into muscle. I know because I do a lot of walking from my work to Hollywood studios almost daily to pick up the car at the parking lot. That's where John works now that's why. LOL

Doing it with someone helps. If for no other reason you push each other to do things that you really don't want to do (i.e. exercising). Even eating better can be easier if someone is there going through the same things you are. For example, it's hard to eat an unhealthy chicken fingers and fries when the person you're eating with is getting a salad. Also, if you plan your meals with other people in mind, you're more likely to eat a bit better, particuarly if you're making your own meal and not buying it at the local pizzaria or fast food place. Eventually you'll find yourself pushing the other person when they don't feel like it and skipping a day of working out feels weird instead of the opposite.

I dunno... moral support helps a lot and someone giving it to you makes it feel like less of a strain.
