Huge List of Buffy/AtS Time-Travel Fics
I don’t know why, but I woke up this morning and had a sudden urge to make a thematic list of time-travel fics in Buffy fan-fiction. So...I did.
The Buffy fandom is one that allows a great dead of fun magicky stuff to happen, and still be practically Canon. Amnesia, bodyswapping and alternate universes are all devices that have been used in the show, so it isn’t a surprise that they abound in fic. Time-travel is something that Joss Whedon used less, but still it isn’t hard to see how easily it can be integrated into Buffy/Angel. Which means, for those people who like reading about time-travel, there are a huge amount of fics to choose from. :)
As far as I know there are lots of little lists of time-travel fics, but there isn’t one that encompasses the whole range of parings/ratings/time frames available. I thought it might be helpful for people who really love the genre, but think they’ve read all the fics that involve it. Well, just today I’ve found about 50, and will hopefully discover many more in the next few weeks. That should keep people going for a while. :)
How are they organised? Alphabetical order. I thought about categorising them by pairing or era or length, but this seemed the best and easiest way.
What qualifies? The way I judge it, the following time-travel stories must show at least one character from a certain time interacting and/or influencing another time in some way. Therefore, visiting memories, ala It Came Upon the Midnight Clear, don’t count, because there’s no interation with the past/future world. Conversely, if characters from different time periods are able contact each other, even if they don’t physically time-travel, it still counts, because they are interacting and influencing the character and through them the world.
Are all of these fics recs? No. These are not my recs; they are a list of fics which share the same theme. I haven’t read all of them, so I can’t vouch for their quality. The ones that I think are absolutely insanely wonderful, I’ve put an asterix next to. But that’s just my personal opinion; I’m sure there are many others that are brilliant and amazing.
How do we know who’s the time-traveller? I’ve put the character/s that travel/s in bold so it should be pretty simple to work out. :)
