Why can't people help themselves?

So I went to chair a meeting tonight. I met a guy waiting outside for the doors to open. I'll try to shorten the story because I'm tired. The guy has an Ivy League education. He just left a detox center after staying for a whopping two days. He was quite foggy but I believe he was sober. He told me that he had no where to stay for the night ( Read more... )

The hardest lesson in the world is that people grow at their own rate. I'm told that once that's internalized, dealing with people is significantly easier.

Agreed. And I know that. I would say "but that doesn't make the situation any less frustrating." But it actually has made it less frustrating. Hopefully the dude will find his place.
