Is it funny that I find the part of which the daddies take the blame funny?

*copies, pastes, reads*

Ryuuken smiles bitterly. "My son hates me," he says, "I made sure of it so that he wouldn't feel obligated to include me in his decisions. I didn't want him to follow in my footsteps, so I made him hate the path I chose. Was that very stupid of me?"

"Completely moronic," agrees Isshin, shuffling closer to pat him on the back. "My son doesn't hate me, but neither does he really have any idea who I am, so I'm just as moronic as you are in that respect. We both kept them at arm's length so they'd have to decide what sort of people to be all on their own, but we've paid the price for it."

*bursts out giggling* Oh, I know that this isn't supposed to be funny, and it is really meaningful. Perhaps I've gone random, but just seeing them being all chummy and guilt-ridden (somewhat), I just...

You've done Isshin and Ryuuken well! It does seem that they've sorta 'ninny-ed' down, but the bantering's all cool. Write more, please!

Nah, it's all right if you find that bit funny. I did, in the fact that despite being badass death gods they really are shitty fathers. XD

Ninnyed down? I don't see it that way. They're friends-- they can say things to each other that they would never, ever let anyone else know. For their sons they have their chosen facades up 24/7, but they've known each other so long there's no point keeping it up when it's just the two of them. *shrug*

I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for taking the time to review. ^_____^

I'm glad you enjoyed it! It feels incomplete to me, so don't be surprised if I do write more. Since you follow my journal you'll definitely get a link to the finalized version. ^___^

Lovely! I love your explanation for why Isshin is puzzled that Ryuuken calls him Kurosaki-- beautifully simple, beautifully profound. Ryuuken feeling a momentary resentment of Isshin because of their decisions and the two young idiots' decisions. Just two father and two old friends who are wondering if they did the right thing by their sons, actually know that they did the right thing but are wondering why it all seems so wrong. And friends enough to deal with barbs but still comfort each other. Lovely fatherhood and friendship piece.

I'm not even sure I have the right words to convey how much I adored this story. You did an amazing job on their personalities behind what we normally see of them. It rang so true and felt so real; like it really could have been slipped in right after their manga conversation with no break in reality.

I got so choked up when their bared their souls to each other and doubted if they were doing the right things by their kids. It was beautifully done.

I have to say though as much as I loved the whole story, this part stuck with me the hardest -
'I have no idea what's going through your idiotic white head right now, so you'd better tell me or I'll start guessing.'

I found this hilarious. As if the worst punishment Isshin could come up with to torture Ryuuken was his guesses. LOL!! That was so awesome to me.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful story and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more. Isshin and Ryuuken never get enough love. *memories*

Gnuh. What a gorgeous review. Thank you so much.

About that line: that's pretty much exactly what I was hinting at. Isshin's guesses would get steadily wilder and crazier, driving the logical, practical Ryuuken absolutely bonkers. *grin*

I'll comment again with a link to the longer version when I post it. Thanks for reading! ♥

LOL!! Yep that's exactly how I saw it, nothing could be worse for Ryuuken's sanity than Isshin's crazy ass guesses. XD

Sweet! A longer version. WOOT! *glomp*

*sneaks off to tackle Isshin as well* :D
