Name/Nickname: Michiru
Age: Nearly 20
Likes: Kendo, which I’ve been doing all semester. My college in general, because it’s pretty awesome and perfect for us nerdy introverts. Free food. History, specifically that relating to Nazi Germany/Soviet Russia/Protestant Reformation/Russian Revolution/French Revolution/WWI (in no particular order). Cute babies/kitties/puppies/animals in general. Music, singing or playing my trumpet or listening to it. Writing fanfiction. Hanging out with my friends, even if it’s just at a meal or to watch movies while crammed on my one friend’s bed. Anime/manga. Cosplay/sewing. Jurassic Park/dinosaurs in general, and specifically velociraptors. Nerdy/sarcastic humor. Driving. Studying the Japanese language. Studying psychology/sociopathy/the origins of Christianity and debates surrounding it. Socialism. Sleeping.
Dislikes: When technology doesn’t work. JAVASCRIPT. Racists/closed-minded people/incompetent people/absent-minded people/idiots/sexists/people abusing animals or kids. Extreme heat or cold. Humidity. Snow. Rain. Sun. Being forced to be social more than I can mentally cope with it (I’m an introvert). Bad drivers. Bad grammar/spelling. Extremely loud obnoxious sounds. Like the fire alarm going off when I’m doing work. Drunk people screaming outside my window when I am attempting to sleep/ANYONE being loud when I am attempting to sleep. Our cafeteria food on the weekends (or lack thereof). Obnoxiously entitled people. TWILIGHT. Deer running into my car. Or onto my car. Or under my car. Being treated like a child when I’m not, or having my mother rely on me for money constantly when I’m but a poor college student.
Talents/hobbies Kendo, cosplay, anime/manga, writing whatever (LJ, fanfic, schoolwork), music, googling stuff because I’m a nerd and information makes me happy, knowing random crap that always seems to come in handy at one point or another, being able to fix lots of stuff when it breaks (not technology, but clothing, books, clothing racks, etc), observing/analyzing/intuiting situations and people’s feelings, history, languages, creative endeavors in general, teasing my friends in a slightly mind-screwing way for laughs.
Strong points: I’m intelligent, loyal, and creative. I’m very passionate and strong-willed when it comes to things. I can see almost every side to a situation and try to do the “right” thing according to my conscience. I’m a “jack of all trades” in a lot of ways and tend to know a little something about everything and a lot of something about some things. I’ll fight for something I truly believe in. I try to be honest with myself and others to the point of being brutally honest. I’m very resilient and I persevere.
Weaker points: I tend to talk too much at times, even when I try not to. I’m bad at expressing feelings regarding people I care for outside of teasing them/offering to beat people up for them if need be. Anything relating to romance befuddles me (to the point that it nauseates me with how foreign it is). I can be very easily distracted or frustrated. I can’t deal with stupid people, or my family (even if I love them) very well and I’d much rather stay at my Seven Sisters college away from both groups of people. I’m prone to anxiety at times. When I’m angry, I can be violent (or sociopathic and scary). I’ve also got a tad bit of a foul mouth, but I’m starting to curve that (slightly).
Mature or Immature: I have my immature moments, but who doesn’t? Overall I’m very mature, particularly for my age (always have been).
Leader or Follower: I tend to fall into the leader category, but the kind who asks their followers for opinions and tries to make a concerted effort to please everyone. But following isn’t something I do well, and I guess I have the type of personality that ends up attracting followers anyway.
Outgoing or Shy: I’m an introvert, but I can be outgoing when the situation calls for it, or I feel comfortable enough to jump in and talk to people. (Heaven help you when I DO like you, because I won’t shut up)
Confident or Modest: Depends on the situation. I’d say I’m in between, because I know when I’m good at something, and I know when I’m not.
Optimistic, Pessimistic, or Realist: Realist. Maybe a bit on the brighter side of things these days. I try to see all sides of a situation and to evaluate based on all the evidence, so I don’t get my hopes too high or set them too low.
Goals in life: Graduating college/going to a good graduate school. Being financially stable. A good job, preferably in the history field as a professor or museum worker. Finding love, getting married, and having children. Traveling and learning more about everything that catches my interest. More succinctly, to be happy.
Favorite quote & why: I don’t know why, but I have always loved the poem by Edgar Allen Poe, “Dream Within a Dream,” particularly the lines:
Is all that we see or seem, but a dream within a dream?”
It’s just…very beautiful, and it makes you think about what reality is, or might really be, or what it could be, and all these freaky little possibilities. It’s delightfully haunting and catchy.
Describe your personality in three words or more: Stubborn. Loyal. Protective. Eccentric. Intelligent. Take-charge. Playful towards my friends, in a slightly sado-masochistic way. Forceful. Obsessive. Analytic.
Favorite character & why: A few years ago, I would have said Ishida Uryuu without hesitation. I do love him a lot because I relate to him so strongly in the family dynamic (albeit you’d have to switch the genders around to all women), although my relationship with my mother is better now. We’re also both huge dorks who love to sew and are generally a bit weird and odd. However…It’s definitely Szayel Aporro now.
I know a lot of people will wonder how I can like him when I detest Mayuri, but it’s that Szayel isn’t SUPPOSED to be good, for one thing, and does not pretend to be nor to be one of the “good guys” on the “right side.” He’s also got more ethics than Mayuri-he at least kills people before starting to dissect them or experiment on them. I find his general flamboyant craziness wonderfully intriguing, and fun. I have a bit of a thing for crazy, sociopathic scientists (as anyone who knows me will tell you).
I do have to give a shoutout to Aizen though. I mean, he’s really, really badass. He fooled all of Soul Society, made himself his own army AND a castle without anyone picking up on it (except Shinji, but he’s a special notable exception), and just. Damn. He’s awesome. (I also have a bit of a thing for guys who want to be God. For those of you who have seen Deathnote, I was a huge Light fan).
Least favorite character & why: I despise Tousen for his waving around justice like it’s some black-and-white thing and acting like the world owes him something, but Kurotsuchi Mayuri takes the cake. I loathe what he did to the Quincies. I despise his way of using people, hurting people so cruelly and callously (even those who should be his comrades), and the fact that Soul Society lets him GET AWAY WITH IT is what really gets me, considering the origins of how he came to be a Captain (you’d figure they’d have thrown his butt back in jail, wouldn’t you? Bastard). I think what it really is with him is his complete lack of any morals or ethics whatsoever that even characters like Gin, Aizen, or the Espada-the supposed “bad guys”-have, in varying degrees. He lacks them at all, and I seriously want to see Uryuu blow him up and make him die and stay that way. The fact that he killed Szayel has made me hate him even more than before
Name one character you absolutely don't want to be stamped as and why: Mayuri. Again, I hate him to the point that I just can’t even bear to think of being compared to him.
Anything else: Not really, other than I’m like, half asleep right now, so if there’s incoherency, I totally apologize.
