That's a great point. I agree that marriage isn't the be all end all to equal rights. It's so irrational that there's this whole "don't ask don't tell", because it implies that that gays in the military wouldn't be accepted for who they are, which is probably true to an extent, which means we still have huge issues to battle culturally.

I find it pretty silly to bar a group because someone wouldn't like them. You could apply the same thing to minorities - oh, no, sorry, no Hispanics in the military, the soldiers don't like Hispanics. Blehhh.
