Gas crunch = oppurtunity

Sep 01, 2005 09:32

I've noticed a lot of people selling off old gas guzzlers around here, and I think it's going to be a trend. While it is a smart idea to sell an old tank to buy a small light car with 40mpg, I'd hate to lose what I've worked so hard for ( Read more... )

That is a good point - and the crunch is going to last some time. I have a Kia Sportage for my regular ride and it is awesome on mileage. But I will tell you, once my 53 is done, I will have to fight the urge to get another pro car.

Hell, if you've got money after that major resto, go for it! you only live once!

This is waaaay too tempting. I have a feeling I may do something stupid (again) and make my girlfriend want to kill me.

If you let her drive it, she might not want to kill you! I saw a running 73 Superior ambulance sell on ebay for less than 300.00, and I almost took a towtruck to SC just to get it.

It's not that I don't let her drive it. I live in an apartment building and park on the street. I don't have anywhere to put any more cars.

Go for it man. The way I see it, if she leaves you look at this way- There are millions of females out there, and more being made every day. There are no more classic hearses being made, so you tell me which one is in short demand?

Ok, that was possibly cruel, sorry.

I am lucky in the fact that my girlfriend is usually the one to go "Hmmmm...do you think we could fit one more in the driveway?" even before I do.

I paid $3.26 a gallon yesterday. Gag. I can't afford another car, and I won't sell the hearse, so I just have to take it.
It's tepmting to sell sometimes, but I always come across those old folks who say, "I used to have one of those, but I finally grew up," or, "...but my wife threw a bottle at me and said..."
I always despise them, and I will never be one.

Exactly! How many people have come up to you and said "I knew a guy who used to own one..."

Automatic hearse badass points to you man. One for only owning a hearse and two for not selling. I know of TONS of people who just give in and sell it and then regret it.

Good point Tommy. I recall stories from people in the 70's gas crunch talking about how they couldn't GIVE away old big ass cars. This may very well be the time to do it. Years from now all the tards who sold low will be thinking about what dipshits they were for selling cheap to people like us who didn't give a rats ass.
