Those sound like some solid resolutions! (some of which I should adopt too =P). I'm in second year (University of Guelph) and last year I drank so much more often. Being in residence (I assume you are?) had that effect, there is always someone going out and doing something involving alcohol! This year I found it a bit easier to limit the drunken nights + money spending.
Also, try taking our a limited amount of cash with you when you go out, enough for the bar's cover and a few drinks, that way it will be easier to say "no" when people ask for money, and to limit your own spending. And pre-drinking before the bars help too! Or else sneaking in a flash of hard liquor, and secretly pouring it into the cheap diet coke you order at the bar... >.> okay thats a bit far, I've only done it once!
