I think the next time ANY GODDAMN WOMAN says to me "Oh, you're on your period? Boo fucking hoo, grow up," I will take off my underwear, shove the stain in her face, and say "This? Is because I didn't change my tampon every 30 FUCKING minutes to hour. I am in PAIN you fucktwit, and the only reason I am even UPRIGHT is breathing control and ( Read more... )

Ah, I don't know how much it would help you, but maybe instead of a tampon, you could try a menstrual cup? I think they hold a bit more liquid, and for me, it feels like my period has been lighter (or at least, less long) ever since I started using one. (I have a Diva Cup, but there's a bunch more.

Aside from that, the internet tells me the exercising more actually relieves some of the cramps, and it's true that (for me, at least) I tend to be in less pain if I'm moving around instead of just lying still.

And finally, there's always birth control pills. They've come out with some recently that supposedly regulate your period more, and I know some women who use the pills to just completely skip their periods.

I'll give that cup a try.

I've actually had to stop several times at work to breathe when the cramps get to be too much, and this is in the middle of recovering books. Sometimes it helps... mostly, it just makes my muscles remember oh yeah, sore here!

Birth control, gods. Done it once. Got fucked over by my insurance company.

*hug* I really can sympathize with you. And I agree with you about what you said, if a woman says that, then she's pretty damn stupid to begin with, I mean, most women HAVE periods. I can always drive to where you are and punch them a lot. Do you have endometriosis? If you do, chocolate and green tea work pretty well although... hell... if you're in a lot of pain then that probably won't help. I wish I could do more for you, I really do... Take care of yourself. I hope you get to feeling better.

Poor baby! The only upside to having periods is it keeps the hot flashes at bay.

Completely randomly and probably badly timed since you hate me and all, but I figured this was information any woman could benefit from... My stepmom's a dietitian and said that a diet high in calcium really helps regulate the menstrual cycle. That whole 3-a-Day thing about milk cheese and yogurt apparently isn't a falsehood. Just to possibly save your liver from meeting an early end due to having to take too many analgesics.

Uhm-- hoping to be helpful and sympathetic somewhat with this, late though it may be (just stumbled across your blog from an old fic!)-- and I dunno if you'll ever see this ( ... )
