i got into a serious yelling match in my ethics class last night because this stupid girl quoted Paul out of context. i know the verse, you probably do to. it's the one that made me feel like a dumb whore ever since i lost my virginity at fifteen. gotta love how those baptist preachers do poor exegesis. the verse: "he who sins sexually sins ( Read more... )

Lindsay, you rock! That was an awesome journal entry!

You know, what you're saying is so damn true. We need to concern ourselves more with the impetus of sin than the sin itself. It would help a million times more if we understood our longing for fulfillment. It would be more beneficial to assist those who really want to cast off their shackles. Granted, many want pain relief and not change, but if God leads our hearts, will He not lead us to those who want change--as we wanted it?

I've missed reading your entries! Like I said, that was a great one!

thx.

and i agree with you. what is more important to do: continuously pick rotten fruit off a tree or go the root and uproot what is bad, thus producing healthier fruit?

"don't we know that more we focus on not doing something, the more we actually do it?"

I strongly disagree! I've focused pretty damn hard on not having sex and I never have.

I also strongly disagree that "liberal" opinion doesn't count.
Everyone's opinion counts!

sorry, this was a slightly drunken reply.

sin is sin. true.

and I totally agree that "a broken and contrite heart" is what's most important to God.

good entry.

i've tried very hard at not having sex, and almost every chance i've had, i've failed in my efforts. same with getting drunk. it's human nature to do or be what you despise, what you try not to be. like how the patterns of abuse is hard to break. cycles. because people make vows instead of dealing with what is in them that has the propensity to do what they hate.
