IMPORTANT READ ME!  I failed to show you how I was supplying power to the broadband amps power supply. I am pulling this rectified +24volts directly from the 2 diodes on the RF generators ( Read more... )

Hello. What is the black box shown in the photos?
Also you mention 24v power supply, but the schematic shows +12V?
Have you experienced any problems with the un-modded unit above 60 MHZ?
Thanks
James

The black box is a power trends +12 volt regulator, you can use any standard LM7812 type regulator here, I just happen to have some power trends laying around.

The voltage I am using is coming directly off the primary diodes without any regulation and should run around +24v. I do not have a schematic to work from here, so i'm unaware of any expected voltages. Also, I am aware there are many different versions of this unit, as they have been around for a long time and under many Mfg's names. The easy thing to do here is just use a voltmeter to measure and go from there, you are regulating the output to the amp you build. So, the real enemy here is the amount of current you are planning to pull from the transformer, keep it low and you should have no issues with this type of mod ( ... )
