Can I get a squee?

In an attempt to give myself a break from reading news until my eyes cross (some people really get into the minutiae of baseball stats during a season; I get really into the minutiae of the punditry during major elections), I've taken to watching True Blood on HBO. I'll admit I came to it reluctantly, thinking the whole vampire genre is just ( Read more... )

Have you read the books? They are very amusing. I think the series is doing a pretty good job of following them, I'm pleased with the actors and the script.

I wasn't even aware of the books until I looked up the show online. But yes, I think the characters (and actors who play them) are really making the show. And I need to find that song on MP3. :)

Tell me if you like the rest of his stuff (should you hear it.) I'd like to know if it's all that good. And if you do decide to read the books, read them in order. Some series it doesn't matter, but this one does. She has a very entertaining cast of characters.

I really enjoy the books - it might not be the most original take on vampires but I find them an entertaining if a bit light read and like that she hasn't quite followed the pack on a few things. And I would dearly, dearly love a mp3 of that opening song.

If you think the tension between Sookie and Bill is great, wait til Erik plays a bit more into the plot. Gah, sexy, sexy Viking! *purrs*

Ooo, Vikings eh? I'll look forward to that. I have enjoyed the way the show manages to stay fun and keep the tone relatively light...too much gloom-and-doom in the vampire story turns me right off.

*nods* Almost all the books in the series are like that, a nice blend of humor and darkness. I'm happy that the tv show does a decent job of capturing that.

There was a tiny bit of Erik in the previous week's episode, and he plays more and more into the plot as time goes on.

Wait, was Erik the head honcho who called Sookie over to talk at the vampire bar? I didn't quite absorb his name, but yes, he was yummy. (I liked the confidence and sense of entitlement.)

I actually ended up watching True Blood when I was on vacation in hotel rooms, and while I didn't like Sookie at first, she's really grown on me. And the Sookie/Bill sexual tension is awesome, just like you said. I *love* Tara, she's awesome, and an amazing character. It really is a fun show, I've enjoyed all the episodes I've seen.

*nods* It took me most of the first two episodes to warm up to Sookie also, but I think the actress who plays her is doing a really good job of staying likable without going too Mary Sue. And yes, Tara and Layfaette (sp?) are both favorites of mine.

Hope you're feeling better, btw!
