My favorite ironic moment of the night (quite possibly of the year): Britney Spears being interviewed by Matt Lauer in a full hour special "Britney Spears: Speaking Out" edition of Dateline (must've been a slow news day), trying to defend that she's not a redneck -- and chewing gum with her mouth open. Then she sort of mocked the "Bible Belt" and went on to say, "It's just cruel when people stereotype." And, Britney, you would call what you just did . . .? Yeah, I thought so.

AHAHAHAHA THAT WAS GREAT.

Especially since Matt Lauer confronted her about the baby-on-the-lap thing, and she replied,

"I'm country. That's just what we do!"

And then he made her cry.

Matt:"Does it hurt you that the paparazzi are questioning your parenting skills? It's not like 'oh, she had a bad song' or 'she gave a terrible performance', it's 'she's a bad mom. Don't you just want that to go away?"

Britney: *bursts into tears*

I loved how she defended her love for K-Fed by calling him "simple" and "a boy". Not "he's a good father" or "a good husband". He's simple.
What every white-trash, KOOL-smoking, Cheetos-eatin', rap singin' boy wants to hear.

Ahem.

I heard the whole interview on talk radio last night. That's why I can quote it almost verbatim -- it was fantastic entertainment!

:D
