Yay, Stephen F. Austin and Sugar Land! I agree, it is not worth a trek from Houston, but their program is one of the best in FBISD. That's cool that you were assigned a place to go observe. Is that where you'll be Student Teaching, also?
Yes I did, and he was a crazy. But it was probably the best fundamentals class I ever could have taken. He was really particular and specific about exactly how he wanted us to conduct, and it gave me a really good foundation for my conducting class at Loyola the next semester, where I had to actually conduct our concert band. I wouldn't disagree with your on getting a master's. The program at UH is definitely more band (both marching and concert) oriented than anywhere else I've seen.

i probably won't be student teaching out there just because it's a good hour away, on a good day, and gas would really kill me. i'd like to though...
bennet is really good about fundamentals, but i don't like his teaching method. and he's monotone. :) talk about falling asleep standing up! oh well.
i miss you too! i don't think i'll be making it to the recital...my parent's are being parents and not letting me drive out there, and i don't want to ask christine since she'll be driving out to san antonio a couple of days later. "hey can you give me a ride to new orleans for the weekend?" not a question i'd like to ask. *tear* i'd love to go though. i'm sorry! i heart you very much!

and yeah, bennet is quite possibly one of the most sleep-inducing people i have ever encountered. he does know his shit, but that's because he's been teaching the exact same way for like 100 years. you know how i feel about you going to get a master's! do it!
