When I first read the chapter, the "chain reaction" bringing everybody (minus Tezuka) to Kawamura Sushi reminded me of that anime episode as well (it was one of the nicer episodes, in my opinion, seeing as there was some social interaction between the characters). The swivel chair is a nice one too - maybe I'll have to check my fics for what parts of my life I've unwittingly included in them.
Last but not least, it's funny how work and writing fiction go together. I usually barely feel up to writing everything after getting home, but while in the office I usually get some good ideas for plots.
Writing at work hasn't gone well this month - it's been hard to remember to write on my lunch break when I don't remember to actually take a lunch break and eat.
Glad you enjoyed the notes! I'd keep doing them even if no one read them, because they're very therapeutic for me, but it's nice to know that they can be interesting to other people.
Thanks! This was a pretty short chapter for me, but the character interactions practically wrote themselves. I'm glad the relationships came across as easily as it was to write them.
Inui's look of betrayal was one of the first phrases I wrote in my initial draft of this chapter over a year ago. I don't think Inui ever got over Yanagi abandoning their partnership the way that he did and, even though Inui's not as close to Fuji as he was to Renji, I think Fuji's sudden departure would have shaken him up very much. That's probably why he told Eiji that he and Fuji would have been classmates if Fuji had stayed at Seigaku.
A birthday present, eh? Goals are good. I'll see what I can do. The 27th probably would have been the date I was shooting to post the next chapter, since it's the last weekend day in March, but I can't guarantee anything. It will probably depend on how well my writing goes this weekend.
I absolutely love this fanfiction. I hope you update soon, because I'm intrigued to see how Fuji's classes will go. On a random note, how are students ranked in school in Japan? I was under the impression that Fuji is incredibly intelligent, but the best class is 3A or something like that. So I'm a bit confused . But other than that, great chapter!
I'm sure people question whether I'm serious or not about this story due to how long it often takes me to get a new chapter out, but I swear I'm working on it! (Right now, actually!)
That's generally my understanding of how the class ranks work as well. I think I might have touched on it briefly in one of the other chapter notes. If not, I meant to. However, if you look at which the classes the various Rikkai players are in, that explanation don't quite make sense. Most of them fit, but there's two in particular that don't in light of those characters' personalities and traits.
As for why Fuji's in B - as a transfer student, I don't think he would be able to place into the top class. Plus, I had other plot-driven reasons for wanting him there. ^.^
