I've been trying to think of things to do with the short story I wrote for my dissertation last year, but it's really awkward to find anything to submit it to. It's 7,000 words so it's too long for most of the competitions I've seen... and I don't really know about the publishing industry enough to know where else I could submit it! I should

I'm... not really sure what genre it is, actually! I guess probably fantasy/fairytale (with a healthy pinch of melodrama!) I'll stick it up here anyway so anyone who fancies can have a read. There's already bits that I sort of want to go back and touch up, but I wrote it a year ago, and I'm not George Lucas: there has to come a point where you call something finished eventually ;)
