Seeing you post on LJ makes me feel like i entered a time warp and am now five years in the past. Ack. I haven't read The Hunger Games! Wheeeeee i'm good at fandom.
Yeah I haven't done a darn fandom thing in a really, really, really, REALLY long time but Jennifer Lawrence was cast as the main character in the upcoming movie and I LOVE her and then I met a girl who works at B&N and said the trilogy sells like crazy.
For good reason. Amazing YA lit.
Read them read them! I thought about maybe even doing a *gasp* FANMIX, FOR REALS.
Also, love your icon. I was really surprised at how good the first book was. My 13y/o cousin and I talked about the books at the family bbq on Saturday, and she pretty much has awesome taste so good on me. ;)
They are the fandom OTP. Although I don't know how much having the popular fandom opinion is worth since HG fandom seems to be pretty toxic at large. So far they had sequelitis wank, plagiarism wank, movie casting wank, racism wank, shipping wank - and the movie hasn't even started filming yet, so things are bound to get even worse.
Yeeeah, I don't want to "get into" the fandom. But I could do with some Katniss/Peeta fic, and I might make a fanmix because Jennifer Lawrence ZOMG SO PRETTY.
I haven't read the book yet but I was very entertained by the fandom outrage at the movie castings haha, do you think Josh and Jennifer really fit the descriptions of the characters in the books?
Jennifer, DEFINITELY. I didn't really have strong visuals for any of the other characters, except Peeta being Robert Pattinson-y/golden-boy-ish which the actor who was cast as Peeta seems to fit that description.
Gale was surprising, but I can see it. And I love Elizabeth Banks in anything, so she'll be a joy to watch.

Fandom avoidance seems like a pretty good policy.

I was thinking that "Peeta" was just a post-apocalyptic version of "Peter" but it really sounds like "Pita"...bread.
Oh brother. :/
