What kind of frakery is this?

I watched the Dark Shadows trailer and am HUGELY disappointed.

They turned my beloved show into a comedy :( I know the original one had funny parts because bugs would fly around, crew members could be heard dropping things, and actors would flub their lines, but none of that was intentional. I was highly anticipating Dark Shadows, but now I am not ( Read more... )

What the hell was that!? That is NOT the Dark Shadows I grew up with! They made this a parody comedy!!! Yes, I agree with "the original one had funny parts because bugs would fly around, crew members could be heard dropping things, and actors would flub their lines, but none of that was intentional ( ... )

I can see what should've been the movie so clear in my mind. It'd start with Victoria Winters making a long journey in the dead of winter to Collinwood. She'd be teaching David and then creepy shit would be appearing to her in the house - like Sarah's ghost. You know the audience would eat that up.

For some reason they felt that would not sell tickets. Roll eyes.

I want the movie to fail terribly. Watch it doesn't.

I knew the moment Tim Burton signed on DS would become one of his movies, not an actual remake or re imagining but a Tim Burton movie that has element of Dark Shadows.

I'm pretty meh on Burton in general and am tired of his style (original but has been the same for years) but I was pleasantly surprised by Alice in Wonderland and I've wanted to see Eva Green in a comedy for YEARS. I'm actually looking forward to it.

I was hoping Burton would go the Sleepy Hallow route with DS. That was a pretty creepy movie and would've been the correct tone.

I like most of the cast for the movie. Helena is the perfect Julia and I think Jonny Lee Miller makes a good Roger. And yes, I wasn't bummed about Eva being cast as Angelique (my favorite female) because I thought she could pull it off. But everything I saw them do in the trailer is SO out of character. Barnabas/Angelique's relationship made me cringe, Barnabas telling his family that he's a vampire would've never happened :(

I'm saddened by this.
