Well it seems like a lot of things have been happening at once but hey that makes vacations interesting. I'll catch up on the college events later.
First my trip here. It was rather cold and I needed to catch a train to Phili at around 8pm so I decided I'd go early (leaving at 4:30) so that I would manage to find the station if I got lost and relax a bit. I made a pit-stop at Turkey Hill where I brought some supplies for the trip: 3 packs of Rollo's, a packet of hot dog buns, and an apple danish. I was going to walk there and this day decided it would welcome me be being below 32 F (at least I think). So I made the 15 minute walk to the station carrying my luggage (luckily it had wheels) and then I ended up buying a ticket for the 6pm train and met Nathaniel Smith (Dean for International Affairs) who was making his commune home. So I got on the train, whipped out my laptop and headphones and started playing random games. The train had stopped a couple of times but I hadn't really paid any attention. Suddenly it stops and half of the people leave so I decide to ask one of them what station we're on. They say it's Phili so I quickly grab my bag and go. I get on another train for the airport and after I sit down I decide it will be safer to read a book. So I start reading and we stop a couple of times. So I decide to ask the ticket guy how many more stations there are until the airport. He tells me "you can't stand here sir. Go to your seat." So yeah.
I get to the airport and my flight is only going to leave the morning after but the 6 and 8pm trains were all I could arrange. I decide I'm going to watch some movies on my laptop after I finished Lunar (fun game if you want to try it). I ended up watching A Walk to Remember and of course I had to cry. I was freezing the whole time but I stayed up until we could check in our luggages. So that went fine. I got on the plane and read. Got into Miami and checked in and made sure I didn't have to grab my luggage. Turns out I already had a boarding pass and my luggage was supposed to go directly to Brasilia. So I go around the airport for a bit and then check in and get ready to go. I get to São Paulo and the next plane leaves in the morning so I get to go to a hotel. I'm pretty sure I asked again about the luggage either in SP or in Miami but anyways I leave the airport without my luggage because I already had a boarding pass and the luggage would be going to Brasilia.
I get to the hotel and sleep. When I get up at around 6:30, I go get breakfast and shower and am ready by around 7:08. I asked about the transport to the airport and they said it was only at 8. My flight was at 9 but since I didn't need to check-in or get my luggage I was ok with it. I just read my book until it was time to go and I was at the airport by around 8:30-ish. I was getting a bit nervous but I got there ok. I went straight to the gate to be let through but they told me I didn't have a boarding pass yet. So then I run to the check-in, and check myself in. They asked if I had luggage and I said I had one that was going straight to Brasilia. They said I was supposed to pick it up yesterday. I ran to the lost luggage department, got my bag, ran back (arrived at around 8:50) and thought that I could still make it. They said there was no way for my bag to make it onto the plane but they said there was another flight at the other airport and told me to wait a bit and they would tell me. I waited for about half and hour until I decided to ask when the next flight left. They told me they didn't know and I was supposed to go to this little shop that had the info. Why did they not tell me that before, who knows. I then asked, got onto the bus to the airport and got into a line to check in. I think it was line 17 or something. This guy came around and told asked us where we were going and I said Brasilia. He told me I had to check in to lines 1-14. Off I go to line 4. I was ready to check in since I had to reschedule a flight when they told me I had to go pay a tax at this other place. I go there and spend 20 minutes in the same spot in line. I get to the counter and I don't have to pay the fine after all because this is a post-flight change. It would have cost me $135. Then I get onto the plane and finally arrive in Brasilia. It was rather cold in Phili so I had worn fishnet sleeves under my hoodie to keep me warm and I decided I'd wear them to Brasilia as well. So I had fishnet sleeves, nails painted black and they were rather long. That freaked out my sis, kico, and my parents a bit but it's all good.
I guess that's it for my trip.
