Swine Flu

My parents are kinda freaking out about it. But I really feel like its no big deal. If I start feeling unwell, I'll go to the doctor. But I mean... I'm just having a hard time accepting it to be true. Like, seriously. I feel like I have a higher chance of being hit by lightning than getting this thing. I dunno ( Read more... )

The question isn't whether or not you'll get it. The thing might be a pandemic. But that doesn't mean people are going to die over it -- just that a lot of people may get the sniffles.

So far the only confirmed deaths are in Mexico. The one death in the US was an infant who was flown in from Mexico City the day before.

The CDC is saying there are not 150+ deaths from this thing confirmed -- that's only a media estimate. There are only 7 confirmed deaths.

Meanwhile, 32,000+ people die of regular flu every year.

Yes, it's interesting to watch a specific disease spread to pandemic levels, but if it's not killing anyone, why are we freaking out over it?

It's nothing to get worried about.
Heck, if you start feeling sick, you probably caught whatever I had which was just a normal virus apparently (but my throat hurt like heck, DX)
My doctor said it's just a bunch of people freaking out and that it's practically the same as the normal Flu; sure it was bad when ever it happened before but our medical whatever it much better now (not to mention MUCH better than facilities in Mexico) so blah.

...btw, I only went to the doctor cause I felt like I almost hacked up a lung or something the day before. I totally wasn't aware of this whole pandemic thing till then/today. =/ That's what I get for avoiding the internet for a couple days.
