Denouement

It seems to me that if you or I must choose between two courses of thought or action, we should remember our dying and try so to live that our death brings no pleasure on the world.

L. Viki: *a rare sight to see Viki actually walk all over the castle premises, but she had a good reason, and that being to find someone specific*

Sasuke: *having been quiet lately and avoiding all forms of the drama taking place in the castle, Sasuke is sitting in his favourite tree, just by the entrance of the castle, alone* ... *he's bored, looking at an abandoned bird's nest, before he spots Little Viki down below -- he can't help but sneak a peek at her*

L. Viki: *of course she would know where Sasuke would be - even if she doesn't go outside that much* Sasuke. *she looks up at him pleasantly for once and gives him an expectant glance to come down, because she already looks up at people when she talks to them enough* I have come to inform you of great news! Can you please come down?

Sasuke: *he blinks out of surprise, not expecting this kind of behaviour from her -- though of course, he thinks it's great* Hm? *he effortlessly jumps down, landing gracefully in the snow a few feet from her* ... Viki, what's going on?

L. Viki: *however, her look quickly fades back to a blank one as they engage in conversation* I believe I may have found a way to go home.

Sasuke: You... *he pauses, confused* Really? Th... that's... great! *he looks half-disappointed, thinking that she's going to leave by herself now*

L. Viki: *nods* It is marvelous, although it is not a guarantee by any means... it may even be dangerous, but I believe it is my only chance. *can't help but smile a little, the little girl is going home after all* I wanted you to be the first to know, so that I may bid my farewell.

Sasuke: Th-thank you, I... *he goes quiet, and then tries to speak again, forcing the words out in a mess* I'm... I'm happy for you! ... ... *another awkward pause, and he has to think hard for something to say* H-how are you going to do it?

L. Viki: I remember studying about how a storm phenomenon briefly opened a time-rift in IS 481 at precisely 9:14 PM of this Wednesday. *is actually very familiar with these phenomenon and often makes it her duty to investigate them* I believe if I go to the Ceremonial Site at that precise moment, I might be able to pass through time and space... although, as I said, the end result is not necessarily guaranteed. *she doesn't seem to show any concern about that, however, and wonders if she's trailing off slightly...*

Sasuke: *he tries to keep track of what she's saying, not quite understanding, but that doesn't matter - she seems confident of herself anyway* ... So... you could end up anywhere?

L. Viki: Quite possibly, although I would not be in a worse situation than now. Whether I am here or anywhere, I still long for home, correct?

Sasuke: ... You're right. *closes his eyes for a moment, as if thinking something through -- it's not like he'll leave anything here behind...* I... If you put it like that, I can come with you, right? *kind of sudden*

L. Viki: *her face rarely shows any signs of surprise, but this is truly one of them* ... Why on earth would you want that? I will not be coming back, you know...

Sasuke: I-I know. *he glances at the ground, one of his hands fidgetting with his scarf* But... I don't belong here, just like you. There's a chance for me to go home as well... right?

L. Viki: You would only end up where I do... *frowns a little, as she can relate to Sasuke's loneliness in this place* And I will not be aiming for your time period.

Sasuke: That's okay. Like you said -- whether we're here or anywhere. *he looks back up at her, his face hopeful now* If... I end up in my time, then I'll be lucky. If not, then... it doesn't make a real difference to me. I just want to go home.

L. Viki: I... see. If... if you really wish so... However, I must confess, I really convinced myself that this would be my last conversation with you. I wanted you to know something important. *suddenly looks a little unsure whether she should say it anyway*

Sasuke: *he can't help but have one of those awful teen moments where he isn't sure what to say and his heart skips a beat and he gets all nervous even though she's probably going to say something completely normal* ...Wh-what is it, Viki? *tries not to sound nervous*

L. Viki: Well, it is not so important now, but I wanted you to know that... I am a loner by nature, and yet you truly were my greatest comrade in Budehuc. Hm. *doesn't appear to be good at these moments, too, and wonders if Sasuke can make sense of this*

Sasuke: *he definitely flusters and turns slightly pink, not sure what to do or say* I-I'm glad you thought so, Viki. I mean... *he tries to think of something smart, but fails* I... probably would've left the castle sooner if you weren't around. *realizes how stupid that sounds, and shuts up*

L. Viki: Hmm. *thinks that they both know what they're trying to say, and for the first time trusts someone enough to give them a warm... childlike hug* ... I will be with you for a long time.

Sasuke: *his mind's first reaction is to freak out and freeze up, but luckily for him, his instincts make him calmly place his arms around Viki's shoulders, gently hugging her back... though his mind's still kind of panicking* ... Yeah. And... if we end up together in the wrong time... we'll just try again. Th-that's right.

L. Viki: Yes... *stays still with him for a moment and contemplates what the future holds*
