I feel disgusted by Jesse already, just from reading this. I, too, have been the subject of many scornful Baptist-types who think that my beliefs (somewhat in the line of yours, that God as such, whatever it is, takes us as we are, though likely even less aligned with Christianity) are the easy way out. That it's simpler for me to take in the entire world with love and without biblical restrictions. That somehow taking the "hard road" of the god-fearers is, simply by its nature of being hard, better. First, harder does not mean better. Second, since when has unquestioned following of a preordained set of strictures been harder than trying to find your own way through the world?
Anyway, that's my addition to your venting.
