To most of the men, and probably some of the women, on the island, what Joshua is doing -- walking away from a half naked woman who had just kissed him and on multiple occasions expressed a desire for him, if only to kiss him in order to have breakfast -- is unthinkable, unimaginable. For most, and Joshua isn't immune to his new hormones as much ( Read more... )

Carolyn had spent a better part of the early morning hours cleaning her small hut, reading a little and even spent some time making a nice fruit salad (something that didn't require cooking was always a plus in her mind). She'd done all those things to try to keep her mind off the storm that had raged around them. and for the most part it had worked.

Hearing the knock on her door, a smile slowly formed on her lips and she quickly crossed the room and pulled the door open. "Good Morning," she greeted Joshua and then stepped back so he could come inside. "Did you sleep well?"

"Good morning," he replies. A smile quickly spreads across his face and he notes an increase in his heart rate. He tries not to think about how ridiculous it is for him to consider a relationship and instead focuses on the facts that they hadn't agreed on any sort of formal relationship except to see how things went, possibly a few dates, and that despite his objections, he had kissed her that day in the clinic and quite enjoyed it. His mind hangs on that memory for a moment. Remembering the feel of her lips on his, the faint taste of coffee, his heart pounding in his chest. It's perhaps not the memory he should be lingering on he soon realizes and attempts to focus on something else. Like the question she'd just asked him.

"I didn't really sleep much at all," he confesses. He'd probably be feeling it if not for the way he feels around her and he shakes his head again, rolling his eyes at himself briefly. "What about you?"

She'd already moved back to the kitchen part of her hut and looked over at Joshua as she pulled a couple of plates and her two mugs out so she could set them out on the table. "I'm sorry... Was it the storm? It kept me up for a while. I got a couple of hours of sleep, but I figure I can take a nap later if needed." she said as she moved back to the table and began to set it.

"Do you mind getting the tea and coffee for me?" she asked, smiling warmly as her gaze moved from her task and back to him.

He nods in response to her request and moves to bring out the tea and coffee. There's a small smile on his lips and in his eyes that she's made tea as well. He wonders if she's picked up on the fact that he's never really grown fond of coffee.

"Part of was the excitement of the storm and the activity in New Atlantis. They lowered the shield to let someone in at one point." He doesn't know if she was awake for that or not. "But like you, I figured I could sleep later. I'm supposed to have a clinic shift this afternoon, but there's no way to get up there." He shrugs.

"Part of it was also that Juliet dislocated her shoulder and my hut wound up as a makeshift clinic. She's still over there actually. I slept on my couch."
