Who says you can't re-name a vid?

I used to call this Farscape video Checking Out, but that was because I thought that naming it "Heartbreak Hotel" might confuse people into thinking it was an Elvis video....not that there's anything wrong with that. I did an overhaul of this vid in December (2009), and decided to give it its "real" name

It's very interesting how the song/the episode you focus on make it feel like a 40's style noir. I kinda adored it. Who knew that "The Choice" could feel like one of these private detective type of deals? Very inspiring and very well done. :)

it's interesting you say that my vid feels like an old style film noir. "The Choice" itself always reminds me of a more personal, less violent version of the movie Blade Hunter, which presents a noirish version of the future. it's got the high contrast look, the gritty "nighttime" feel; and all those white lights (vehicle headlamps?) flaring through window panes - all effects used so well in those old bogart/cagney movies of yore.

Finaly, sorry. Last weekend was Con weekend, and I was a little short with time.

well, you know this topic is so not of my liking. I think I watched "The Choice" only 1 time.
But, I LOVE this vid. First of all this is a great song for this kind of video, perfect. I love the color change. The part starting at 1.34 until 1.44 left me mouth wide open for the first time. Love how you played with the clips and overlays. Next was at 2.05 - 2.08, the scene with Aeryn walking away, and the Talyn ep clip *thud*
and at 2.42 - 2.47 the Aeryn scene and the clips of John you added to this. Awesome. You made this video look special. I love how the clips go with the music. Gona keep this one, like all of yours. Thank you for making, and sharing. I realy enjoyed watching... *hugs*

well, as i just replied to aruna, with a shameful hanging of my head, you have no idea how sorry i am that i didn't read this when you sent it. this was a difficult period - the posting of this video got all tied up in it - but it would have made such a difference to know that someone had watched it with such care and appreciated the little things that we (as vidders) try to do to make a vid look and feel worth watching.

this makes me so happy to read, silke. especially (and of course you don't remember - and neither did i as i had to go and dig it up and watch it again) but that part at 1.34 - 1.44 with the suitcase and the hat......that's my favorite part of this vid, so thank you so much for noticing it.

I'm finally commenting on one of your recent vids! Geez... I don't see time flying by between uni work (almost done YAY) and vidding of my own (Dad's bday end of month).

I didn't see the movie but I know the story of Postcards from the Edge (because it's adapted from a book by Carrie Fisher, yeah insane SW fanjirl I know).

The Choice is one of my favourite episodes of the whole show. I like how you took an original way to vid it. Cause I like the "sad" tone of it (cause well, see the ep) but at same time you have this "fighting" "dark" "survivor" feeling in it that I really like. (if that does make any sense).

I like the chromatic work, this is really interesting how you meshed everything. And the mix of overlays and crossfades was also quite smart in it.

I even happened to smile a few times in the vid, which for an episodic on this one is hard to do. But it's pretty original and me likes!!!

I really love this vid, and definitely keep it!!!!!! Thanks for making it!!! Great job! =D

Hey Aruna!!!

I have no idea when you posted this - i kind of deliberately sabotaged my online existence for the past several months - and i don't see a date here. but i am so sorry that i didn't see this when you posted it because it would have made me so happy to read. by now probably (maybe) you could care less about what i think (and i totally and completely understand) but at this point it was more important that i respond, well at least to me.

this is one of my favorite vids (of mine, of course!) primarily (or especially) because i thought it showed that i could vid another character than John Crichton (not that there's anything wrong with that). but besides the song, which i adore and which i always had in mind for Aeryn - this was especially important for me to do, as a vidder.

please forgive my absence. i am slowly working my way back to land's end....
