Ahhhhhhhh, wow. That's terrible. Shook me up a bit, so I can't imagine how you and everyone who knew him must be feeling. =/ You're right, this shuld never have happened. His poor family.
oh, i don't know him, just his mum from the forums... so she's really a nameless & faceless - but stuff like this happens & people try to band together. obviously, we all really feel for her.
oh my god, my family is from northam...I wonder if one of my relatives knows the family. thats so goddamn sad, and so much money gets wasted on abosolute bullshit and people just argue about how to fix the medical system without doing ANYTHING, and this happens. :( poor kid, and poor family.
That's awful. gastroenteritis is what rob suffered a little while ago- there is no way that could ever be mistaken for anything 'mild'. It's as bad a pain as a bloody exploding apendix for godsake. poor kid.
if this was an animal coming in to my clinic, it would be immediately on a drip, have an anti-emetic injection, possibly have a hose run over it to get the temperature down if it was 40 degrees+ - yet people get sent home with fucking hydrolite and a junior panadol which is nuts cos the kid was in the adult range for panadol dosage. grrrr
exactly. sounds like the nurse was about as clued up as the idiots on our nhs helpline. they told rob to do the same thing- take 2 ibuprofen (on an EMPTY stomach...) and sleep it off. absurd.
I only read halfway through the article before replying- what he fuck, they went into to hospital in business housrs, during the week and there was only A DOCTOR ON CALL??????? SERIOUSLY? there wasnt a doctor on the premises! what the fucking fuck. what if someone came in bleeding to death or something? jesus christ.
i know! in a HOSPITAL???? at the very least. but that is rural health care for you. when i lived in merredin we were lucky to get a doctor & even then they are migrant docs from africa who refer to Royal Perth or Princess Margaret anyway!
yeah. the doctor that my mum used to work for in julia creek ( 5 hours west of townsville) was basically on a roster of international doctors trying to get accredited to work here. something needs to be done to get doctors in rural areas.
