carly came over last night whilst i was riding beejay & she talked me through some stuff. he was OCD about flies, which is obvious in the videos with the kicking out

Occurs to me--this is the new saddle, yes? Have you put the old one back on him to see if that makes a difference? Or any saddle that isn't the new one?
ETA: And does he always use his left hind like that?
the kicking out you mean? it was crazy last night. he does get VERY ocd about flies & tunes in on them. we have horrid bitey ones here (can bite clear thru ur jodhpurs or several layers)
and yes, this is new saddle. have ridden him 3 days in my old all purpose & similar behaviours.
No, the not tracking straight. There are times when he's scuffing the toe/swinging the whole leg off true. Sometimes it looks like you may be asking for it, sometimes can't tell, but it caught my eye, especially in the last two vids.
wow, i haven't noticed. that's very astute. to be honest, i have no idea??? he doesn't feel *right* all over tho & is very resistant in certain parts of the arena.
Wow, those birds are insane! Between that and the flies I think even *Sage* would be throwing a fit, and he's nearly as sensitive as Beej I suspect. My goodness, what do you do about the flies?? How can any horse concentrate when there's flies like that? We have some pretty bad deer flies for a few weeks out of the year here, and we use all sorts of bugspray but really it comes down to trying to avoid riding at certain times of the day more or less
