I'm sorry. :(

Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM, HA, and devil's claw seems to do well for Cracker (23yr old) with an up in HA if we have a cold snap or a hard work.

Feel better Beej!

Forgive the spelling, I'm on my phone - hyaluronic acid.

I've used a variety of products with Posie over the last few years. She's 16 and has some arthritis issues in the hind. It takes awhile to find the right balance for your horse but all of the joint supplements above can work, it really just depends on how your horse responds to the supplement. I have Posie on Glucosamine, MSM, Chondroitin and HA all in one joint supplement from Smartpak Equine. Again it's really about what Beej needs in terms of his condition. I've heard Cosequin is good but have not tried it. Good luck!

Man, that must be so hard for you. And don't feel bad, I think your assumptions that he was just acting up were pretty reasonable, given how he's been in the past.
I hope it's not too serious, and that treatments won't be stupidly expensive.
*hugs*

Oh, also I've heard amazing things about deer velvet as a supplement for arthritis. I never used it on a horse, but I've used it on two dogs, and the change was absolutley AMAZING. One went from being unable to go up and down small sets of stairs to LEAPING up and down them.

That SUCKS. It's OK (and normal) to be angry and jealous and upset. I honestly don't know what I would do in that situation. And echoing what others have said, no one should blame you for suspecting back soreness or crazytown, given the history. :( I know that my parents feed msm/devils claw/yucca, and it has done a lot for keeping my old barrel horse comfortable. She is now nearing 30 and is the nanny to the babies. She's just now starting to show general old-lady stiffness, although she hasn't been ridden in half a dozen years because she started getting stiff enough in the back end that she couldn't compete (if she wasn't the hottest horse on the planet under saddle, she'd have been a great kid's horse, but instead she earned a retirement of love and green pastures.... and dealing with babies!).

I'm assuming the vet is just talking about basically knocking the toe off so the breakover is easier? I don't know that I've heard it referred to as rollbacks, but then, I'm a hell of a long distance from you!
