Religion without politics and what I'm thankful for

Why can't Religion be separated from Politics? I mean, I know it can and there are laws for the separation of the two, but why doesn't it work? Is it because "Religion" has become an institution? Some of the stuff I hear makes me think they already have been or need to be in some kind of institution, but not a Religious one ( Read more... )

You should see the movie Religulous. I think it's in the lame in between theatres and being on dvd phase right now, so you'll hafta wait awhile, but I think you would enjoy it. I wouldn't recommend it to most religious people, but you view religion with a much more open mind than others. Bill Maher makes a lot of the same points you made in this post. The last five minutes or so of the movie are a bit preachy (ironically) and like, omg if you don't all become agnostics religion will end the world! but other than that it's good.
