We have lilac bushes in our side yard...
My mother's favorite flower is also the lilac...

I wish I had more than four days home this summer, before leaving again...

How lucky that you're in the Chicago area, Adam. Lombard, one of Chicago's western suburbs is home to Lilacia Park. I believe that may be the site of the nation's greatest concentration of lilac bushes, both purple and white. Every year, the village holds a weeklong Lilac Festival (bad news: I think it ended this past weekend). But if you can cajole a fellow student with a car to travel out there with you, I'm sure you'll find it a real treat for the eyses and nose.
