It's a busy season, but I've still managed to find time to read - or reread - some of my favorite Christmas stories, in RL and in the fanfic world. I think my favorite "fanfic" Christmas story is msmoat 's "Ringing in the Changes, " which can be found here :

Well! This was rather a nice surprise on my f'list today! Thank you! It's interesting what you say about it serving as a good introduction to Pros. I honestly don't know if it is or not. Yes, it covers a lot of years, but the references to the episodes are so integrated into it...and yet, maybe it would work. I don't know. I also wonder, sometimes, if this is the only way i can write long--this structure of individual scenes/stories that form a whole but aren't connected by scenes in between. It's one reason why I want to write a novella or novel, just to see if I can do it, and yet fear I can't.

At any rate, I'm very chuffed that you enjoy this so much, and find it a favorite Christmas read. Cheers.

As I said earlier to someone who was unfamiliar with the show, I started reading the fic, and continued reading it, for at least a year before I ever saw an episode, and your stories were some of the earlier ones I read (thanks to recs by others, and because of the Christmas "calendars" that showcased various Christmas stories). So, I think it's doable, whereas some other stories that depend on the reader understanding more details about various episodes can be enjoyable to read, but lose a lot of their punch to the unfamiliar reader (Sebastian's Wonderful Tonight comes to mind - I remember getting confused over all the references to things that only someone who had watched the show would catch. OTOH, her Hyperion to a Satyr is set up similarly to your Ringing in the Changes, with the story checking in at various times over the years to offer a snapshot of what the "lads" are up to, using canon, but relying more on the relationship's progression to tell the story. For that reason, it's also one of the stories I tell people they can ( ... )

Hey there. Long time, no see.

Thanks for the recommendation. Never heard of "Pros", but curious all the more since your recommendations usually are what meets my taste in a story.

Great you turned up again.

Hi there - nice to see you and hope you're having a great Christmas holiday!

I haven't rec'd The Professionals stories to you? They are wonderful, and Ringing in the Changes is one of the best. I'd never seen the show - or even heard of it - when I started reading the stories, and I enjoyed them right away, although after a very short time I definitely looked around to find out more about the show and the characters.

Hope you enjoy it - if you like it, I can send some more recs, as well as a few essays and videos that give some background info about the show, and illustrate the connection between the two actors that sparked a thousand slash stories . . .

So far, I´ve never been disappointed by your recs. You have given me Arwen and Manna Francis which I´m very grateful for.
So, you can rec stories, essays etc all you want. I´m always on the hunt for great stories.
