Humm. I thought I read on your LJ that you were having mother-in-law issues, but maybe that was sassym. Sorry if I confused you with someone else - I've been so insanely busy at work lately that I am practically brain dead on the weekends. And right now I'm feeling shitty from yet another ear infection. (manage to not get sick for over two years now - no colds or flues or viruses, but I still get those damned ear infections 3 or 4 times a year, most likely as result of my allergies).
I don't have your email address, which is why I haven't sent you any poems, but I've often wanted to, especially during times that I think you feel sad. Poetry if my favorite form of literature, and I find that it speaks to me - expresses what I think - in a way nothing else can. But not everyone reacts to it that way, so for me, it's kind of a very personal thing. But here is one that I wanted to send you months ago, because some of your posts just made me think you might like it.
The Past Is Still ThereI've forgotten so much

Now I have been know to utter a FUCK or 2 in my lifetime. It is now not in my normal use. My daughter, Shante, who is Black, tried to teach me to say Mother Fucker in proper street vernacular. She kept laughing at me. I just did not pass the street wise test. Ahh, well. Some have it and some don't. I do like the poem.
Avavia's comment reminds me of when I was thirteen and had moved to a new town and taken the opportunity to reinvent myself as a cooler person. Somewhat. But, I still had never cursed. My new friends, teammates on the hockey team, noticed this and found it very amusing. Donna A (there were five Donna's in our class, so each had her last initial appended to her name...Donna A was an extremely cool person) dared me to say a curse word. She was rolling on the ground laughing so hard because I knew I could not say any of them convincingly but my new found acceptance as part of the in crowd was hanging in the balance the more I stalled and the other girls were watching, rather like a scene out of Jack London as Donna A suggested all the minor level curses for me to use

The Godfather is a great book, and a great movie. I'm glad it served as a good role model for your use of profanity!
Knew you'd like the poem (which is why I sent it to you earlier). My very favorite Fuck You Poem is, of course, the one by Amy Gerstler (that I also sent you, many months ago), but this one is excellent in a different way, and very enjoyable.
I read this poem this morning. It stayed with me all day. Thank you for sharing it. I have never had a problem with saying fuck. I had to learn to wait and use it when it was the most effective. It does have it's place.
Hey Cat, my boys are good. The fireman just got back from the fire in Santa Barbara. The soldier is getting closer to being out. Now we pray he doesn't go back to Iraq before then. Think of you when we watch Colbert, my hero.LOL Hugs, Cindy

Glad you liked the poem. I have a couple for you, too. I mean, that make me think of you, or that I've wanted to send to you at different times.
I think poetry is the best form of communication. Glad you liked this one - it's one of my personal favorites!
Love your icon, BTW!

Glad you liked the poem - definitely one of my favs, although my very favorite "fuck you" poem has yet to be posted. I'll save it for another day.

I'm good, big changes coming up.
Ahh waiting to read the ultimate "fuck you" poem then. To think there was a time when I was embarrassed for dropping the F-bomb around you, HA!
Glad to see it's ALIVE and hopefully doing well;)
