Christmas stories

Dec 07, 2008 03:33

Last Christmas I read a QAF "fanfic" that centered around a particular Christmas song. I'm not particulay religious, and I wasn't really familiar with the song, but after reading the story, I heard the song several times, and always thought of beautiful, sexy Danny O'Keefe.

For those of you who are QAF fans, the story will be easy to follow. For ( Read more... )

Hi...nice to read you again.

And I follow you in recommending arwensong O´Keefes stories.
I´m still grateful for finding it, thanks to you.

Edit: I hope it works now.

Glad you enjoyed my rec - I don't make many of them, but I am rather loud about them when I do, lol.

Hope you are enjoying the holiday season.

Cat, you are too kind. Thank you! I have a fondness for this story as well. I appreciate your bringing it to the attention of others.

But! I shall have to somehow record BR singing this song, or Sam would be wonderful, his voice is baritone. The two of them together would be awesome, as it is made for a harmony. But Michael Crawford does a good version as he really hits the money note at the end. There are a few other singers who do a good job with it. I shall have to send you a good version. The composer does a nice version that you can hear on you tube.

Oh...now I have finally listened to the song Danny sang in the church. Thank you for this link.

Glad you liked it. I wish I could have found a baritone singer, since that's what Danny is, but the melody andly the song fits into the story.

For you to recommend it, I have to read it. You don't recommend much and I tend to listen to what you say (most times anyway!). I'll let you know later how I felt about it.

Hi Lois! If you have the time, you should read all of the Danny O'Keefe story, which is Better Friends and Lovers. It's really long though, and it's not a B/J story. But if not, this Christmas story works on its own, I think.

It's nice to hear from you - hope you and your family are having a nice holiday season!

It would also help to have read the stories from which Danny et al. came, her "Better Friends and Lovers" series, which can be found here:

Yep, it's a good story. One of my favorites. Have you read the stories about Luke? I think it's Ghost Soldiers. Those are a good read, too, although they aren't finished yet.

Nope. I don't do WiPs. But thanks.
And I figured you'd read it. I was really mentioning it for anyone reading this who was taking the rec sight unseen.

Thanks for the rec! It amuses me that you chose Clay Aiken's version of this song. I remember once you said that you got the CD that this song is from as a gag gift and that you intended to give it to someone else rather than listen to it. I think he sings it beautifully.

LOL - is that Clay Aiken? I was trying to find a version of the song on youtube, and this and one by a man (I think it said it was Kenny Rogers) and a woman was the only other option. I just thought this was some anonymous male singer. But yes, the Clay Aiken Xmas CD was a gag gift, and despite this rather nice song, will not be making my Christmas list!

Too bad I can't find a sexy baritone singing the song, since that's what Danny O'Keefe is!
