Falling asleep during a job was incredibly commonplace in Black Mesa labs and this was no exception. Fully exhausted from the ASIL tests and living to tell about it, the physicist got to working in building his lover a more furnished kitchen for more varieties of food. He chuckled a bit when he pictured how good Wheatley's food should be if he helped his mother out every time his siblings riled him up. The conclusion: he'd have to be quite good, taking Gordon's personal experiences with John. The churner was...churning away, the mini-stove was fully operational and off, and the potato patch strangely tended to when he came in. Since then, he's been hard at work, improving what he could before the 36 hours of straight-forward insomnia ended and he'd be out cold.
The TARDIS venture proved one thing: he wasn't as composed as he thought he was. During the Resonance Cascade and City 17, he was this perfectly quiet and stoic person; he did everything he thought necessary to survive. That led to some...unsavory decisions that came to a head after the Advisor attack...particularly initiating an eventually unsatisfying relationship with Alyx. Sure, he got the girl and saved the Resistance for the time being after the Battle of Prague* but he was too guilt-ridden to see past these. Gordon's actions had taken everything from her: her mother, her childhood, her freedom, and finally her father. She said she forgave him that first night together but he had his doubts in the long run. It still killed him inside to know he could have said no to the experiments. These were the nature of his random bouts of self-loathing he confessed to Stephens: remembering why he didn't say no. Aperture, for all GLaDOS and Dossy's murderous intents and actions, did leave Freeman a second chance at redeeming himself. If he could keep Wheatley from becoming a core and living a full life outside, Gordon would be happy. "Well fuck, I'm in love." The smile on his sleeping face was never this bright since he kissed that girl that first week in the job. He'd just wish he wasn't that awkward and blurting out stupid things that come off completely wrong.
