Jody and I never seem to have overly much luck when it comes to gardening here. Last year we put our tomatoes next to the house, but they didn't get enough sun and really didn't produce much. The cucumbers, meanwhile, got put out near the fence and died from the heat. So this year we're going to reverse the gardening areas, once Jody gets around to ( Read more... )

Thank you, I've never really done anything with bulbs, so I have absolutely no experience or ideas. I would still like to dig them up though, as they are growing everywhere randomly, and put them in a centralized location. I'll probably pick some up from the store and plant some new one's as well.

My compost pile is now crawling with cucumbers, so I think I might grab the compost from the section that isn't producing anything for the tomatoes and peppers we're planting, but leave the rest alone and see what happens rather than trying to transplant.

You might try black plastic instead of Roundup.
No residuals and also partially sterilises the soil.

PLUS if its still a bit cool just slit the sheet
and insert the plants.

The grass here is very persistent. I think what I'll do is trim around the fences with the weed whacker, then spray them and look at doing the black plastic for a long term - will have to stake it down, most likely, and then be willing to spray the grass and stuff outside my planned bed area. We'll see.
